Netanyahu Threatens Escalation, Demands Hezbollah Disarmament for Talks
In a recorded address, Netanyahu said Israel would only engage in talks under strict conditions, emphasizing the dismantling of Hezbollah’s military capabilities as a prerequisite for diplomacy.
He also claimed that Lebanon’s interest in opening communication channels was driven by what he described as Israel’s military pressure.
He stated that the conflict “is not over yet” and asserted that Israel had achieved significant gains in its ongoing operations.
Netanyahu said:
“enormous achievements.”
He also suggested that regional dynamics involving Iran had shifted, claiming that the country was facing internal challenges and reduced influence. He further stated that efforts to address Iran’s nuclear capabilities would continue, either through negotiated agreements or other means.
The remarks come amid continued military developments in Lebanon, where Israeli operations since March 2 have resulted in thousands of reported casualties, according to local health authorities.
Separately, the Lebanese presidency has indicated that a first round of talks between Lebanon and Israel is expected to take place in Washington, D.C., a move that has drawn criticism from Hezbollah and heightened political tensions within Lebanon.
The statements reflect ongoing escalation in rhetoric alongside fragile diplomatic signals emerging from the region.
